hey i installed MPC with the k-lite mega codec package but everytime i play any type of file, it starts becoming a resource hog and i dont know whats wrong. wen i look at my task manager, the "mem usage" goes over 200,000K and my cpu usage is at 100%. wen i press stop in MPC, the mem and cpu usage go down. can any1 help? i dont think it ever used to b like this.

Just sounds like CPU is hanging at 100%. Is it just certain files or all media files?
Make sure computer meets min specifications to play them esp. DIVX/XVID files.

Sometimes Windows has problems with non-conventional filenames that are too long or contain illegal characters. Other times the files are corrupted. Media Player Classic is quite small so definately not a resource hog.

Also verify overlay(output) settings in Media Player Classic and test your default video settings with DirectX diag.
