vcd version2.0 which codec?

hello all, i'm new to the forum. and I have what may be a dumb question. I want to play these hong kong vcd's on my pc. I am able to play them on a vcd player and a modded playstation, but not my pc. I can play burned vcd's that my friend made however i cannot play these. I don't know what format vcd 2.0 is or if that's even the problem. when I place the vcd in the drive my pc seems to have trouble even opening the drive folder to show the vcd contents. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

With VLC you don't need codecs and it seems to play VCDs without problems.
