I have installed the OGG Vorbis codec in the OggDS0996 package. However, everytime I play a .ogm video file I hear a very load and distored audio signal on top of the actual video's audio track.
All other videos, including DivX and Xvid, play fine. I have tried removing both, but no luck.
I was originally using the OGG codec included in Codecs6026_allin1 at codecpack.com but I uninstalled that in favor of the OggDS0996 packaged codec thinking there was some conflict. However, the problem remains.
Any idea what the problem might be?

As you can see on the download page of OggDS there can be a problem with audio decoding in version 0.996. Maybe you should downgrade to v0.995(stable).
If no success, try other ogm filters like RadLight Ogg Media DirectShow filter.

The RadLight filter fixed the problem but the older version of OggDS didn't.
Thanks!
