Often we run across a file we'd like to watch, or a part of it we think is funny barring the rest.

I've played around with a few converter, but all of them need you to install the full player be it real or quicktime.

I know these tools can work without the full install, but where can you get JUST the codecs with nothing else added?

If someone knows, please share it we me and a bet others

Thanks for reading this far

Open the files with "G-Spot". Shows you if codecs are installed or not and what file it is.

Then you can install only the codecs you really need. You can download the codecs here.

Also read the pinned topic "Guide to using codecs".

If you download Real Alternative and QuickTime Alternative, you can install the latest Real & QT codecs. These packages contain Media Player Classic as player but you can leave it out during installation.

All super great answers thanks, you'd thinka software developer working on converting from one form to another would make the job as easy as possible right?

Yea, of course i won't install that Real & QT Player just to convert from RM, MOV etc.! rolleyes.gif
I'm using Real & QT Alternative and WinAVI Video Converter can handle the codecs easily.
