WMV files distorted in WMP

I have every major media player installed on my computer and several not so major ones, and have also installed several third-party codecs, video editing tools, DVD players, recorders, etc. My problem is something I've installed has caused all my WMV files to play in a very degraded manner in WMP. The videos have a pinkish tint to them and have either horizontal blue bars, vertical green ones, or both. I tried reinstalling the WMP 9 codec pack and also installing WMP 10 and that doesn't help. VLC plays the same files fine, but I'd really like to fix WMP. I wish I had a tool I could selectively disable/enable all the codecs I have installed so I could figure out which one is bad. Any suggestions?

Maybe youve got a littlebit too much installed.

Looks like something doesnt match with the components on your pc.

Download "G-Spot" here and open the files with it.

Now you can see if the neccessary codec is installed or not.

Also it shows what file it is.

There is another tool called "Sherlock", this one checks the codecs on your pc.

You should read the pinned topic "Guide to using codecs" and think about getting rid of the stuff you dont really need.

You didnt write what youve installed before the problem appeared.

Did you install codecpacks ?
