Hi all,
I have a couple of .mov videos that are apparently encoded in 3ivx (?). At least, the files are named "videotitle.3ivx.mov"
The problem is that jetAudio 6 will play but not FF/RWD these files (it works fine with regular .mov files). This is specific to jetAudio; VLC and MP Classic have full functionality with these files.
Is there any way to turn these videos into DivX or Xvid .avi files? I've googled with no success on this, so any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks!
PS - Please don't suggest that I simply play them in VLC or MPC. jetAudio is my preferred player, so I'm willing to take the time to convert (or whatever) the files. (Besides, most of my video tools are geared towards working with DivX/Xvid .avi files.)
Thanks again!

Don't come across 3IVX (Apple's version of mPEG4) very often. I normally play them with Media Player Classic with the codec.
If you insist on encoding to DIVX, I suggest d/l virtualDub, Graphedit, Quicktime Pro, CleanerXL or FlaskMPEG to create a DIVX/XVID AVI.
You will find them on 3IVX download/support pages:

Yo!
MOVs - not really a PC friendly codec. Used so that Apple movies can at least be played on PCs but compatible with virtually nothing PC.
However, being the sort of person I am I just HAD to find a way of successfully converting MOVs in whatever flavour they came. Many programs claim to convert them but none of them actually did without a) completely filling up my HDD,
screwing the audio c) chopping the resulting video in half or d) failing dismally.
virtualDub: won't handle it (newer versions might since my experiments).
Graphedit: DONT EVEN GO THERE.
Quicktime Pro. Hopefully you have Gigs of HDD, loads of time and are happy resplicing RAW audio & video back together.
CleanerXL: New one on me so might be great.
FlaskMPEG: Mixed results.
The ONLY program that I have EVER come across which can convert (all 'types' of) MOVs to a more PC friendly format (i.e. MPEG II) is TMegEnc Xpress.
If you're utterly bored you can then convert MPEGII to MPEG IV i.e. DivX like I do on the rare occation that I do actually come across MOVs I want to keep (usually those produced by my digital camera - why oh why is MOV such a popular format!)
Cheers,
Andy

I agree with you Fubar.. not worth the trouble. I rarely come across them except on MAcs and I do lots of multimedia encoding and editing.
Actually both MPEG4 formats... TMPGenc Plus/Express are two of my favorite programs. I would have wrote a tutorial for them, but I never converted an MOV file so I didn't want to point him in that direction in case it failed. Hence, I directed him to 3IVX site with their recommended programs.
