h264 codec problem!

Hi I have a movie clip which won't play so I used GSpot who told me I'm missing this:
Video Codec
4CC= h264
Name= ITU H.26n

So I downloaded the x264 codec from here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/x264_Video_Codec_download.htm
==>
Download [ x264 Video Codec rev. 286 VFW multithreaded build ]

After codec install Gspot still can't process my movie clip. Is there a big difference between h264 and x264? I just thought that the X meant variable=anything like in mathematics blink.gif

I followed a similar case example at this thread:
http://www.click-now.net/forums/index.php?...pic=962&hl=h264

But now I encounter a new problem it says to me in mplayer:

Do you have any AAC audio decoders installed?

I'm not sure of what this AAC audio decoders concept is all about.
But once upon a time, not so far, far away. I cleaned the computer of it's standard codecs by going through this process made by the Animesuki community:
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=17669
Making use of the ZoomPlayer to handle all the possible codecs floating around in cyberspace.

Then I also had to install separately:

AC3Filter is DirectShow filter for decoding AC3 streams used
to play .AVI with AC3 audio tracks and MPEG2 (DVD).
To make certain clips produce sound through the speakers.
Is that what you mean that the AC3Filter causing the h264 sound problem?

No, AC3 Filter doesn't matter I think.
I thought that video had AAC audio and whether you had it or not.
If not, try the CoreAAC Directshow filter.
Or GSpot said it was AC3? unsure.gif

I'm having trouble following your thought of process here?
But from rendering in Gspot this is what I get regarding the Audio:

QUOTE
Audio Format:
Code: 0x706d: <unknown>

The following codecs should both capable of processing this format:

ffdshow Audio Decoder
Nero Digital Audio Decoder

DirectShow was also able to find a codec to render it - the sound for this media clip should work fine.

See the DirectShow Render details for more info.

I'll test your CoreAAC recommendation later and update the result sometimes.

I think I can't understand this too unsure.gif

Maybe you should try a different player (e.g. BSPlayer) and set FFDShow to decode the H264 (in Configuration/Codecs) and the audio (don't know exactly the format, probably AAC) in Audio filter configuration.

Or play with VideoLAN player (built-in codecs)? unsure.gif
