Yo!
Use GSpot AVI.... Plop .AVI file onto the icon it creates on the desktop. It will tell you many things: What codecs the AVI uses for both video & audio and then what possible codecs are installed on the PC to deal with them. You can then 'test render' the AVI to see how the PC is configured to deal with such an AVI should the relevant codecs be installed.
BTW, be selective with codecs... choose ONLY those you need. Blitzing codec packs onto a PC can cause more damage than good because they may have multiple instances of similar codecs, the net result of which is that conflicts can occur.
As to why your films are 'grainy' and then 'less grainy', I am without clue

.
Could be multiple codec clashing related!

Hello,
I'm new here, but I think I also have a problem with the codec of an .avi film.
I only see a little part of the screen , and I know that other people can see the whole screen on their computer.
This is a printscreen :

Gspot tell me I don't need more codec !
What's wrong then, I checked all properties I could find.
Windows XP S P 2 Prof, Graphic card NVIDIA 64
Sometimes he stop showing me film for 5-6 seconds, will that mean my graphic card is not good enough ?
