I have a vb.net application and I'm using a windows media component to play mpeg1 files. Wverything was going great till I got some m2v and aiff files. I'm having problems playing them. I downloaded codecs from ACE CoDeCs but can't seem to get it. The video files are playing OK but the aiff files have a problem rendering.

AIFF file: (Audio Interchange File Format) A digital audio file format from Apple that is used on the Macintosh. It uses the .AIF extension and breaks apart the file into chunks. The Common chunk holds file parameters such as sampling rate, and the Sound Data chunk contains the digital sound. AIFC and AIFF-C are compressed versions of the format. (Source: PC Magazine)

M2V format:
You need the appropriate MPEG-2 codec from a 3rd party. Microsoft only provides MPEG-1 codecs with mediaplayer. ".m2v" files are typically MPEG2 PES or Elementary Video streams. Any MPEG-2 codec should handle them. MPEG2 decoders are bundled with DVD software...codec packs like K-lite. Do a search on free-codecs site.
AIFF like Euromix says... is kinda CD quality WAV format on a PC. If playing on a PC, consider converting to more popular WAV format. Otherwise, consider using Quicktime codecs (Quicktime player/alternative).
Cheers

I was looking for info on aiff files and landed here. Euromix, where did you get the very cool avatar picture you have there - any way you could point me to a larger version for my desktop or tell me where it originated?
