Editing DivX 6 in Adobe Premiere Advice needed

With a view to buying I tried the DivX 6 free and opted for the free trial of Pro. I make videos on a laptop as I travel and saw DivX6 as a way of getting twice as much raw footage on my hard disk as I currently can with DV Pal. The avi files convert and play fine but when I bring them back into Premiere (I use 6.0 in preference to 6.5 and 7) the footage is just black. Is this just some insane protection system or am I getting something wrong.

many thanks

Well considering DIVX 6 is new codec and you are using Adobe Premiere 6 which came out back in 2001. What do you think? rolleyes.gif

DIVx AVI imports fine using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. Likely need DIVX 6 create bundle to get more functionality anyway. cool.gif

Well Mischcabob I have had the same problem with every DivX I've tried back to 3. So I still think its some protection related issue as otherwise why would premiere 6 be able to use DivX6 to create footage at all. I find premiere pro slow and crap frankly and as slightly better titles are about the only new thing I stick with premiere 6 at present. I will see if divx imports as useable into pro though as it would be interesting to know but importing isn't the problem its the fact that it won't export anything based on divx footage. The create bundle bundles a player and converter with the codec so also won't solve my problem.

Likely recognizes DIVX footage, but likely requires proper registered export plugin. I mentioned getting full version DIVX Create bundle if you want to encode/decode DIVX or do any editing. Also, may lift some restrictions or limitations imposed. To be honest, I don't use the bloated package so can't offer further advice. Good luck wink.gif

Although I don't use DivX6 too I think it's not really compatible with Adobe. There were similar issues here previously. I suggest use another video editing tool that fits your preferences.
