Quicktime Alternative

I am not sure which board this goes in.
I have a small complaint

You have Quicktime Alternative for Just Windows 2000/xp.
http://www.free-codecs.com/QuickTime_Alter...ve_download.htm

Why didn’t you make a QuickTime codec compatible with earlier operating systems like you did with Real Alternative?

If not-is there any other place I can get a codec for the new version to work on windows 98?

Thank You.

PS. Please, don’t tell me to upgrade my computer or buy one.

Did you try looking further down the list? rolleyes.gif There is a version for users using older Windows:

Download [ QuickTime Alternative 1.51 - for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP ]

P.S. Whether you like it or not, eventually you will have to upgrade since many software developers are starting to drop support for WIN98/ME. wink.gif

Yes.

I have an xp computer and don’t like it. There is no way I am getting vista
I have an old 98 computer and I really like that.

That all beside the point anyway.

free-codecs has always supported old windows operating systems and now they are quitting as well. I thought that was the point of free-codecs website.

Real player new version can not play on windows 98 but real alternative can same codec

Or you could switch to Linux ... and you can play quicktime too ... both Mplayer and Xine have quicktime support ... or you could just use wine and a window$ program.

Another solution would be to get Mac OS X from Apple.

If cost is a concern you can just get a Mac Mini and use it with your existing hardware after all the Mac Mini is not too expensive.

iMac would also be good but if price is a concern for you best Mac right now is Mac Mini.
