I recently got my computer infected with worms and had to change my anit-virus as my last one was well and truly gubbed.

So, i decided on Norton Antivirus 2005. Trouble is, i use K LitePro and everytime i open it, i get a security alert asking me if i want to permit it, and everytime i click yes...no sooner do i do this, and another one pops up.

I've been into "options", then "internet worm security", "programme security" and low and behold k-litePro is set to permit all.

But i cant use it, all these error messages wont let it run and i'm stuck for ideas...

Any suggestions, guys?

Is it the firewall that isn't allowing K-Lite ? If so change the firewall options ...

If not, there must be a way to turn off the security alerts. So it asks you if you want to let K-Lite specifically or a component of K-Lite ?

You know you can always turn it off while using K-Lite ... you can turn it off right ?

Well, i changed from Windows Firewall to Nortons Internet Worm Protection Firewall. It says its allowed on there, and yet it wont let it.

Security alert says:
Path: C:\Program Files\K-litePro\k-litepro.exe
File Name: K-litePro Ultimate File Sharing
Local port: 40062
Remote Address: 81.155.26.145
Remote Port: 17228
Protocol UDP

Would i be better just going back to windows firewall?

Windows firewall is not really good for pretty much anything.

There should be a way to make a new expert rule to allow that particular address, port, and protocol. I mean if you give the program full access and it still does it then an expert rule is the only thing that can override it. So look for expert rules or IP address ban/allow, stuff like that, and set this particular address to always allow. Let's hope it isn't some trojan embedded in K-Lite biggrin.gif

hmm...i went in to general rules, and selected to always allow this remote add, port etc, then loaded it back up - and still did the same!

I have no idea why this isnt working... maybe i should just change my file sharing to something else!!!

So it says exactly the same thing it said before ? The same address, port, protocol ? If it does, then I have no clue.

But, if it is different, then the program might be trying to access another address.

Basically, when my firewall does this, which happens a lot with games that need specific ports open to specific address ranges, the firewall gives me the address, port etc., and I just keep modifying the rules until no more alerts appear, which takes a few tries. Now, I believe P2P sofware does require some specific ports to be open, so maybe you could just make a more general rule to allow either complete access to that IP address or through that port. But, you gotta know if it is exactly the same alert as last time ... same IP,port and everything ?

The IP and remote port change all the time. The local port stays the same.
