HI! biggrin.gif
Can anyone recommend me a free and good antispyware that also removes adware. I know there are a lot of these type of software around the web but i just don't know which one to use. I currently use spyware doctor but the thing is that it is the tryout.
Thanks in advance.

I used to use Counterspy for a long time. I ensure that it is better than Webroot or Spyware Doctor.
CounterSpy received the "PC World Best Buy Award" in the April 2005.

Why do you want using a free program? You can buy a very good program with discount 35%. It is Spyware Cop -> http://aonid.biz/utilities/common/10942-6/

I would check the following site before trying any anti-spyware, it lists Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Spyware C.O.P., and Spyware Cops are on there ... but the site http://aonid.biz/ is not so I dunno what to think huh.gif

I use LavaSoft's free personal spybot remover. They update bot lists constantly and it works much better than Microsoft's beta spybot remover ever thought of working.

That and twice a week Norton anti-virus, as well as having the real time protection running at all times.

I use at least two always. Lavasoft free version is good, However if you buy the adaware Plus version it is much better. I use the free spyware blaster as well.
I want to add for anyone that has not yet heard of or tried Ewido. It is hot. It saved my butt.
I used it free for a while, however i just got the paid version. It is rude to malware and all else.

I forgot Hijack this. Wonderful program that is still being updated regularly. Also CWSkiller application is a last resort but serious stuff.

My best protection is using Firefox browser and my hardware firewall on my broadband router. Fricken Fort Knox since I got it.

Dslreports.com is the best site for getting your hardware tweaked and configed to perfection. I logged on their site, took a speed test, a tweak test and following their suggestion. They scanned my pc and found one port open, but reported that was very good compared to most home users these days. I promptly got that port closed though.

I opened my RWIN up from default to 70,000. My download speed went from 5700 megs to 8900 mps down and 675kbs up in the five minutes it took to test and adjust my OS. Free as well, good stuff for sure.

I got a copy of XP64 professional for 12.00 shipping costs from Microsoft last month, but I am waiting for more 3rd party vendors to provide drivers for their current hardware. About halfway there, jeez!

Tex, I have tried Redhat and Polarbear? versions of Linux in the past, never could get it installed right, gave up finally. blink.gif

Here's wishing you a safe cyber journey, forum peeps.

I never give up ... luckily thumbsup.gif

In fact, my behavior can sometimes seem abnormal ... I really never give up, even against seemingly impossible odds

I've had lots of problems installing Linux too ... I tried Mandriva, SUSE, Linspire, and Fedora ... only Fedora worked properly

You might wanna try an interesting experiment ... try out all the anti-spyware out there and if each one does not find a new set of trojans on your computer ... then I'll be a monkey's uncle (this is one of many reasons why I switched) thumbsup.gif

On a sidenote Tex., coincidently your avatar is the one I use at my Site. Except it has rain coming down around him. We only have 5 executive members out of over 3000 registered members.
They are the only ones that get to use an avatar of their choice. everyone else uses nice smilies or flags of their countries. A small enough reward for all the volunteer work we carry for the rest of our troopers, eh?

Done and done my friend. I am very experienced in virus, trojan, malware, spybot, popups and bad porno. I would not ever advise someone on any applications until I know it/s good enough for my mom/s pc.
I know what you mean about false finds and how trial software for so-so crap system utilitys brag on it to sell you on their pretend program. Spybot finds sixty or seventy bots after two or three hours online, all were veriefied snoopers until I had around 700 true finds and no false ones. Microsoft has yet to find even one bot on my pc after six months of nightly scheduled use. Even Norton is more sensitive in realtime to bots then Microsoft junk is.

Lavasoft is the real mcCoy and I guarantee it with money back warranty if you dont like it enough to consider sleeping with it, if it came in the standard retail box that is.
My word and education are good to go, but hey, you will know that in all due time, my friend. thumbsup.gif

I do have a Linux OS that I burned to a CD as a bootable version. I used to use it in my lappy to study Linux as a running OS. Cool, but data retention was hard unless you setup up a linux partition beforehand and used it for data.

I rarely give up either, just not enough reasons to lose brain cells over Linux. Ease of use, enjoyment of operation, availability of programs, drivers and handy reference material are juust not mainstream yet. Thats all!

Later.................Winter smile.gif
