Hello snigdha_tripathy.
I've never really that happen to me with yahoo.
But normally I would get the latest version.
Uninstall the one that I have.
Check the program files folder for any folder that says yahoo and delete it. (assuming that was my only yahoo branded product on the computer)
Run a reg cleaner. The one I like comes with a suite of other programs bundled as one - TuneUp
Make sure I have internet
Restart
Check for internet again
Then install the new version.
----------------------------
I would ask if you have a router with a firewall, but it normally lets those things though unless you made it really restrictive.
----------------------------
Try that and let let me know how it goes.

Well, can login to Yahoo to check your mail? Uses the same ID.
1. If doesn't allow you to login, it suggests you wrong login info or account is inactive.
2. Make sure connection not being blocked by firewall.
3. Using latest version and protocol.
4. Server may be experiencing problems/timeouts. Try again later.
5. Cleanup/reinstall is needed as suggested by Jhoy.
