Never any audio when converting from avi's

Whenever I try to convert avi type files to either dvd or any other format (mpg, etc) the sound is never converted. I have used the 'Gspot' utility and determined that I supposedly have the proper codec's for the video and audio (the file plays fine). The details for one of the avi files i an using are as follows:

Audio Bit rate: 132 kbps
Audio format: MPEG Layer-3
Video Frame rate: 23 fps
Video Bit rate: 125 kbps
The video compression is DivX video.

I have tryed many video converter programs including WinDVD, Adobe PremierePro, Cinema Craft Encoder and have had no luck with any. Is there some little detail I'm missing when it comes to converting avi's to other formats? I can convert 'mpeg' files fine with audio, just not avi's. When I try to convert to dvd format the video files are created but no audio files. I currently have the DivX codec pack installed and have no problem playing any type of video file. Using the 'sherlock' utility i have generated the attached 'txt' file detailing my codecs. If anyone can think of any solutions to this problem any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well WINDVD is not a converter. rolleyes.gif
Not sure what steps you are taking, but are selecting the video and audio as sources? The programs you use may not support MPEg1-layer 3 audio within the AVI container....or perhaps the variable bit rate.

One way to get around it is to convert the audio to a uncompressed PCM WAV file then use that as your audio source. wink.gif Otherwise, try DVDSanta or WINAVI converter if you want to keep it simple.
