Hollywood likes to put out brainless, recycled crap, but once in awhile there are original movies that make you think.
Sometimes you have to watch them more then once to understand them. blink.gif
i.e. clever twist ending, strong theme or lots of subtext.

So what 3 movies make your "WOW" list?

Rounding out my list.......
1. Donnie Darko- thought provoking, had to watch multiple times to grasp meaning and themes.
2 Molholland Drive (David Lynch has his own unique style!!)
3. Saw -My fav horror film of 2004, has great twist ending

Honorable Mention: A Sixth Sense- Clever twist ending, strong acting

Have fun. cool.gif

thumbsup.gif 2. Lord of the Rings Trilogy ("wow", really good setting)
thumbsup.gif 3. Matrix Trilogy ("wow", nice special effects)

unsure.gif Honorable mention: Shawn of the Dead ("wow", how funny can they get)
dry.gif Dishonorable mention: Napolean Dynomite ("wow", how dumb can they get)

1) Falling Down (kinda old, but very well made, extremely thought provoking) thumbsup.gif
2) The Game (an awesome movie ... not particularly thought provoking, but very interesting, and 100% original thumbsup.gif)
3) Matrix 1, and 3 (Revolutions) (the first one is still the best thumbsup.gif) (the second one does not deserve to be on the list, it was horrible sad.gif)

Dishonorable mention: Star Wars 1-3: Wow, the worst movie trilogy of all time ohmy.gif

I was thinking more on the line of anti-hollywood, atypical movies. Not big blockbuster necessarily.
If I chose my all-time fav movies, my list would be different.
cool.gif

Elite7..I liked Batman Begins, but wouldn't call it thought-provoking. (Pretty straight forward, predictable).
Neither the epic Peter Jackson trilogy.... but it would appear on my top 20 all time list though.

TMex, I agree with the MAtrix (only liked the first original, before it went overboard on SFX/CGI) since it was confusing, original (at that time) and thought provoking... mixing different realities and themes. thumbsup.gif

The top 3 movies that make me think:

1. K-Pax (so simple and psychically-mentally, so complicated, The BEST!)
2. Fargo (the film about humanity...)
3. Movies by M. Night Shyamalan like Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village

Ah and I like the horror/suspense genre very much. Stephen King adaptations like Sleepwalkers, etc. in the past. Nowadays: The Ring (Ring2 wasn't too memorable), yea Saw (haven't seen Saw II. yet), The Grudge, etc. just for fun. biggrin.gif
David Lynch and his special/unique athmosphere films are my other favs. It began with the TV series: Twin Peaks, and continued with Mulholland Drive (well I had to watch it some.... times biggrin.gif to understand but each time I watched it I discovered more & more meanings).

But these are just very few. I love movies (ahh, and their music so much) smile.gif

1- Wild Things (The whole movie has you thinking you know what happened, but that isn't the case unless you've seen it before).

2- Back To The Future (all movies) Did everything really make sense about time travel or were they wrong on some analogies?

3- The Day After Tomorrow ( All I did was think when I watched that movie. I kept thinking to myself....What if.......
