Help with ffdshow Not working

Back a while ago, I installed K-Lite mega codec pack 1.39 beta 6, and when I used Media player classic, the ffdshow config options would show up in the system tray, and actually affect the audio when I changed settings.

Now after I reformatted and installed Mega codec pack 1.42, there is no tray icon, and the audio sounds the same when I play it through media player classic, even when I change the audio settings in ffdshow.

Is there a solution to my problem?

Try with Start menu, K-Lite Codec Pack, Configuration, ffdshow.
There are two options, Video and Audio (the tray icons are independent).

BTW, there is a new version of ffdshow at the site. Get a try.

See you,

That's what I've been doing, and nothing has changed. When I used to use t when there was the tray icon, when I changed an audio setting, the audio changed, but now it doesn't anymore.

I prefer XVID/DIVX so haven't used FFDSHOW for awhile.

Could be a bug? You should be able to go under FFDShow Audio/Video Decoder Properties > Tray, dialog & paths > [Show tray icon] Depends on what media you are are playing. I think with hidden filters, it won't show them in system tray by default. wink.gif

The only audio files I have on my computer are mp3s.

Here's a screenshot of the audio config section of ffdshow. Is there anything I should change?

Just need an MP3 decoder to play audio files. FFDSHOW will work too, but normally I just use a JetAudio or WINAMP to play my music. (Or use plugin for winamp to use the ffdshow audio filter.)

Go into the audio decoder configuration and make sure under the 'codecs' setting that all the audio types you want to listen to are not disabled. Check the boxes that you want. i.e.. for mp3 enable it in ffdshow's audio filter config. wink.gif

*For system tray icon.. have you looked under Tray, dialog & paths for different filters (as seen in screenshot) ?

I'm using Media Player Classic to play my mp3s, so I'm good in the player department. It worked before with MPC, but not anymore, and I still can't figure out why.

If you need some more screenshots, just tell me what you need shots of, and it shall be done.

I set mp3s to use libavcodec (libmad).

If you uncheck the MPEG audio related decoders of MPC in MPC's Options/Filters (see picture) you will force it to use FFDShow. Or some other decoder, sure.
But the MPEG Audio Transform Filter in MPC is based on libmad so it's like you used FFDShow's libmad...

Thanks chp, setting mp3s to use libmad, and deselecting mp3s from the filters menu in MPC caused the tray icon to show up again. smile.gif

Now FFDShow affects the audio now. smile.gif

Now, I have one more problem...

How do I get it to do the same for videos like mpeg, .mov, and various other formats?

Well, basically you should do the similar thing. Set FFDShow in its Configuration to decode MPEG-1,-2 video, etc. with libavcodec or libmpeg2, and disable all other codecs, filters, filters built into players... if you want to use FFDShow ONLY....

BTW I don't think it will be able to decode MOVs. In some cases, if you enable FFDShow MJPEG, H.264 decoding or things like these, maybe... (and probably by renaming the file - thats's for MPC, to handle it via DirectShow). I think it is not worth the trouble rolleyes.gif
