WMC strange behavior

hello there

i have latest Windows Media Player Classic (downloaded from free-codecs.com), whenever i play an .wmv file it plays one second of it and then freezes and the program is not responding.

however this would happen randomly, sometimes it would play it, sometimes it freezes, but it freezes more frequently.

on my system i have WMP 10, the only codec i have is DivX (but before i've had it, it was the same), i've checked the file with AVIcodec, it says that audio and video codecs are present on the system.

the files play normally with WMP 10.

any clues ? (i've tried searching the forum for it but no luck..)
thanks in advance!
cheers !

You mean MPC (Media Player Classic, right?
Freezeups can be caused by many things. The player is usually bundled with other codecs.
i.e. make sure you have latest directshow 9. Also, good idea to install FFDShow.

Sorry, I meant DirectX 9.0C.
I was helping someone else with directshow filter...so kind of stuck in my head. laugh.gif

I hope for your sake you are running a legal copy. wink.gif
