Hey peeps,

Just a quick note to say hi and introduce myself.

I live on the side of Mt. Ranier in Washington state, my 4 kids are now on their own and having kids of their own. It's down to me and my executive officer, two cats and a big tank of Oscars. I own a big Honda VTX v-twin motorcycle that I spend time cruising the hiways and byways of the most beautiful state in the U.S., bar none

I started my nerdly ways on DOS 5 and a 486\66mhz with 24megs of ram, 1.6 gig hard drive, 8x cdrom and a video card that boasted 4megs of mem on a 14" CRT.

I am now running:
Pentium 4 extreme, Ht, dual core, 2meg cache,
2 gigs of DDR2 ram running at 1033mhz,
2x160 gig WD Serial ata drives(striped),
DVD burner, dual layer, 8.5 gig capable ,
Nvidea 6800 GTO\256megs on PCI-express bus.
19" Flat panel monitor
XP media edition, version 2005.

Wow!, we have come a long ways in a few short years, eh?

I am a retired Navy Flight engineer and spend a lot of time online these days. I am the Site Admin for a 3000 member Battlefield 2 tourney website, music lover(all kinds) and multi-media is a favorite subject of study, when I can get the time.

Come visit us if you are into first person shooters and are looking for some serious brothers and two sisters to play with. We have 3 ranked battleservers, teamspeak server, and a very nice forum as well.
It cost nothing to join or play and we accept new players, old war horses and even small clans who want to fight as a unit in one of our armies. If you have something to teach, learn or just want to make some lifelong friends from all over the globe, check us out!

Thank you Euromix, that was a nice thing to say. I taught my kids that very lesson. Be happy for others and not jealous or non-seeing of their good fortune. It makes you closer to God in many ways and it feels good. So easy to do compared with the smiles you get from people expecting you to ignore their toy, whatever it is.

Thank you again................OH, heres a pic of me in my front yard, those pine trees behind me actually touch the sky, no kidding. smile.gif

3.6 Ghz, hmmmmmmmmm.................sry my friend, I left that out, I was celebrating the modern pc in that post, and was worrying over not bragging about it. I mean, I didnt design it or build it, I just make the payments. lol. rofl.gif

I bought an Alienware lappy last year, P4 3.2, ATI 9700 Pro]128megs on an 8x AGP bus, 2 gigs of 800mhz DDR, every option they can get on a laptop was on this one, from remote control to 4 USB2, Firewire, SVHS video out, DVD burner and the best of hard drives and sound stuff.

It was worn out and ready for scrapping at exactly 12 and a half months. Funny how warrantys work that way, eh? Of course between two 12 hour tourneys a week,(Played in the best of the best ladder last year, 8 on 8 of the finest ballerinas with machineguns in the world), multimedia hobby, and all the internet travel and communication, maybe It was just overworked. lol.

My wife took over the lappy to play Bejewelled and browse spybot ridden spammer sites that promise everything to noobs and give only memory and latency drains in return. She wont listen to me, so now she reaps her own harvest. I am done fixing it for her. Ten years of good advice and prompt tech repair did not teach her much, but it sharpened my arse to a fine nerdly point and the Academy did give me that honorary pocket protector last year. Ha ha. wink.gif

My apologies for waxing on amigos. Therapy of a sort, I think more and more these days.

Have the best of days....................Winter peace.gif

I would have recommended a Sony PC ... my last one lasted 10 years until we sold it for $100 (it was still in working order, except for one of the CD-ROM drive) ... and they are half the price of alienware, same or very similar specs ... only bad part about Sony is they have rootkits installed on their computers (malware ... monitors everything you do ohmy.gif ... very nasty stuff)

Nice bike ... my favorite color too thumbsup.gif

Hello, welcomeani.gif to TalkingSoft. I hope you have a nice stay. You should try taking a picture of those pine trees and post it.
I wonder if the picture would fit on the page, or if yo could even get the whole tree in the picture. thumbsup.gif

Hi Elite,

I will take your request to heart and get my camera out. I never thought of pointing the camera up, I do know it gives me a case of vertigo just to stand in the yard and look up at where they touch the sky. Should be interesting and if so, I will post a copy, mate.

I have noticed more and more, when new people move in to houses on my road, the first thing they do is bulldoze their trees. They end up having yards that look like your standard new sub-division issue. No privacy, shade, or personality left once they get done. What they do end up with is a very, very large firewood pile that they stupidly burn in large quanities at the worst times.

Most of the trees in my neighborhood took fifty or sixty years to reach the sky and can't be replaced in our lifetime. You would think anyone buying a house in the tall pines would be buying it because it was in the tall pines not in spite of it.

Don't even get me started on how much our planet could have used the oxygen those trees produced for all those years, omg. A crime against nature for sure.

protest.gif Sorry, I love those trees and I am wont to rant like I was a founding member of Green Peace at times. lol.

Thanks again for the welcome, Elite!
