Hi,

I am looking for a program for MAC OSX platform that I can use to stream audio for the web and has a .rm extention

I work on a MAC OS X (version 10.3) When I had my older MAC operating system, I used Real Media Producer Version 8 which doesn't work on OS X. I want to convert from MP3 to .rm files. What compatible program do you suggest?

Well very few people use Macs, but maybe someone can help. huh.gif

Just curious, why do want to convert a lossy MP3 format to real media format? MP3/WMA can be used for streaming too.
Just reduce quality and size (80kbps, 8bit, 44khz is sufficient)

If want to stick with proprietary format, I suggest upgrading Real Producer or getting latest Real PLayer 10 for OS X.
You can try open source Audacity, but I don't think it supports exporting to real media. wink.gif

Yes, very few programs support this. It's common to convert rm to mp3 while infrequent to convert mp3 to rm. I advice you not to do so which will cause more diffulty for you in the future. wink.gif

Because the media server that my client uses does not support MP3. They only support Real Media and quicktime files. If I convert the MP3 to quicktime how will that affect the sound quaility.

Thank you both for taking an interest in my quest for a resolusion.

MPEG4 or AAC (quicktime) audio streaming is pretty rare. If going to do audio streaming... then stick with real media. Just decompress the MP3 to 44.1khz PCM WAV file. Use iTunes or other converter on your Mac: http://www.mp3-converter.com/mac_mp3_converters.htm

Riverpast is very versatile converter, but not sure if available for Mac:

Otherwise, convert the WAV file to RM file using Real player 10 or something similar. thumbsup.gif
