i assume that this is the place to post. i used safe xp a while ago because i was obsessed with making my computer safer and a tad bored. i used the recommended settings and clicked apply. now a year later i find that something i wanted is now not usable. in windows media player it will not let me update my media files. i tried unchecking everything and applying and i tried restoring the settings to that of the first run. i am not able to use the restore settings from file thing for one of possibly two things. the first being that possibly the program did not have this function back then or it had been deleted. now i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. reinstalling windows media player didnt work, especially seing that you cant really do it. it is definitely this program that has caused this and i know it has. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of people have probs with this program. I certainly don't recommend using it unless you are an advanced user. You unknowingly disabled a local service needed for Windows Media player for update checks so probably not the fault of the program. I would suggest you rollback or restore previous configuration, but if it has been a year then likely won't work.

Otherwise, uninstall program and upgrade to WMP10 if you haven't done so. Visit the Theoretica website for more support: http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm
