In the mean time, does it play correctly I your computer? And if it does, have you tried to find someone with a newer and/or new DVD player? Or even just a different brand of player?
What brand, model, year of manufactor is your DVD player?

I have the best software for DVD backups imaginable and a very nice GO Video DVD\VCR player as well. Even with all that going for me, I cannot produce a DVD on my pc that will play in my home player.
The generation of the player, options included and cost all have bearing on whether a home player will accept a non commercial DVD.
You also have to choose the right optical media, usually CDRW and set your program up correctly as well.
Read, experiment, buy a newer dvd player.
