everytime i get on the net i have this box come up telling me i should download a program(called WinFixer or WinFix). i'll click no, it takes me to a site that says i have so many things wrong with my registry or something. i close the window, and another box pops up trying to get me to download it again and again regardless of what i hit, another window pops up getting me to download it. i'll close this one and it'll leave me alone for awhile but usually comes back several minutes later. i also am having some pop-up ads come up trying to get me to join this or that sex deal or download some other program.

i've got several scanners(spyware doctor, ad-aware, microsoft anti-spyware, and the whole mcafee deal as well as i have used trendmicro's online scanner) and NONE of them has taken care of this problem. this crap is very VERY annoying. spyware doctor will somewhat block it from popping up, but i want it gone completly. any suggestions? thanks!!! thumbsup.gif

I had just helped a friend with the same problem. And since I did NOT have all the answers, I needed other, more qualified help.

I frequent a lot of "self-help" forums, and I always check for other opinions, options, procedures, etc, before I proceed (especially on someone else's 'puter!).

Dan and I keep that bookmark as a reminder to us and for a good laugh. And everybody else I've shared it with enjoys it also. Sorry it rubbed you the wrong way.sad.gif

In the mean time, any luck with the "WinFix" problem?

That's ok. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't translate well "live and in person".

The main thing is that you hopefully have the problem under control. Just beware. There are a lot of its relatives just waiting to take its place.
