Help
I downloaded DivX player so that I could watch a video my friend sent me. It didn't work in Windows Media Player, Quicktime or Real Player. I was told to download a "codec" and given this download link. But I still can't play the video. This error message comes up:
"This file contains unknown video data.
The file contains the following type of data: video data FOURCC code "MJPEG"
You may need to install a new video codec to watch this video on your computer."
So I downloaded ffdshow to try and fix it. However when I click on the makeAVIS thing, a box comes up saying: "makeAVIS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000.
I don't know what this means and I still can't watch the video (which is .AVI) please can someone help me?

Quicktime pro should be able to play MotionJPG unless it's proprietary. 
Also, can try 3rd party software venders that offer the codec for small price:

If you don't want to spend money, there's another solution. Use VirtualDub (www.virtualdub.org), which has its own internal Motion JPEG decoder and convert the file to a different codec (or uncompressed) which Premiere can read. Here's some steps:
1. Open the file in VirtualDub (or drag the video onto the VirtualDub window)
2. Choose Video, Compression
3. Pick a codec. You can leave it uncompressed, but the resulting file may be huge. If you pick something other than uncompressed be sure to click on configure to adjust the settings so you can get maximum quality/minimum image degradation.
4. When done click file, save as avi and you're done
5. Feed the output file into premiere. You may want to remind yourself to delete that file after you're done with the editing, especially if you used uncompressed for codec.
