QuickTime Alternative + FFDShow + Apple HD Odd thing about HD trailers...

Hello everyone,

I am having some problems with Apple's HD trailers.

I have (actually, had) QT alternative installed and when I tried playing an HD trailer (720p), I was utterly disappointed by the performace. I only got, like, 1 fps (I have an AthlonXP 2500+, 1GB ram). Well, long story short, I told Media Player Classic to use directshow filters to play .mov files. It started using FFDShow for the video and couldn't find a filter for the audio. I had full-frames video and no audio. I tried telling MPC to play AAC streams differently, but I had no luck at all. So, I decided to uninstall QT alternative and... voila! Matroska splitter gives to file to FFDShow and everything works as it is supposed to. However, since I uninstalled QT alternative, I can no longer playback .mov files that aren't compressed with h.264...

What gives? How can I make MPC (or even windows) open .mov files by using FFD? How can I make Matroska Splitter "open" the filetypes that I want?

Thank you in advance for any help smile.gif

Well you need either Quicktime Pro or Alternative to play most MOV (Apple native format) files.
And forget about installing multiple versions.. that could cause conflicts.

I can't speak for latest HD trailers, but I suggest you use latest Quicktime 7.04 if you can't play using QT Alternative w/MPC. wink.gif

I know, but the question was how to resolve the situation by keeping QT alternative. BTW, I seriously HATE QT (pro or otherwise), so QT alternative is the only way to go.

Any ideas?

Rename those HD files to .hdmov.
