Im trying to play an AVI file in windows media player 10, but only the sounds is playing, no images?!

I presume that i need the correct codec, but am not sure how to go about finding out which one i need! My media player is set up to automatically download new codecs, and claims that i have an up-to-date version which needs no updates, so im at al loss!

How would i figure out which codec i need, and where do i find them?! Thanks for the help!!

What Chozela was eluding to was a program called GSPOT.
This topic has been covered many times on this forum. WMP is not necessarily the best player for playing certain filetypes.
If you had read the pinned topic, you would realize installing all these codec packs only causes more problems.
Also, I suggest you read the guide on "What Codecs Should I Use" found here.

Hope this helps. If you need more help, try searching related topics on this forum. wink.gif

gspot will find all the codec(audio, video) installed in youre comp!! and it sais if they are suposed to be ok!
it can tell you what was the codec used to encode the video and audio and tell you if you have 1 or more codec that can read this!!!

(srry ill try to explain more!) wink.gif
