I have a .avi file with a subtitles file .srt.
The format of these files are as followed :
Video: DivX5, 704x396, 988kbps
Audio: MP3, 128kbps, Japanese
Subs: SRT, external, English
However,
My MCP and VLC cannot load that sub when i open the file .avi. ( although there's no problems with video and audio)
i tried to install the lazy man MKV pack. Subtitle is still not loaded. But, it's worse. When playing the .avi file with MCP or Window media player 9, the video is splitted into 4 frames and the image is inversed. When i open other files (.mkv files), the problem is the same. Nothing worng with VLC ( but no sub at all ). When i uninstalled that lazy man mkv pack, everything back to normal.
then, i tried to install the mastroka pack. In this time, it worked, VLC can load the subtitle. However, same problem occurs with MCP and window media player 9: Eventhough it can load sub, the video is still splitted into 4 frames and the image is inversed. When i open other files (.mkv files), the problem is the same.
Help me to choose the correct codec.
This happens all the time when i try to install some new codecs, the new ones will be conflict with the other ones.

Well stop installing multiple codecs since they conflict with each other.
Using DirectVOB Sub or the built-in sub support with MPC will work. How to play subs with MPC has been covered many times. Try doing a search on forum for additional help.
