Help
I'm new to WinAvi 7.1..Want to convert AVI movie in to VCD. So I have to split the movie to 2.. (to fit in to 2 CDs)
How should I do this...?
and how to retain the maximum quality of the source AVI ?

I have come across a couple of good avi editors. If quality is an issue then I am afraid that as far I can tell you will have to pay for a solution.
The Best ones I have seen are Sony Vegas ($449.96) and PAE (personal avi editor, by FlickerFree.com ($10) I beleive. I have also heard good results from Video Edit Magic (not sure how much this costs).
These all have trial versions that you can use to assess whether they are what you need. Pretty much though you get what you pay for though. I am not sure how the quality of the AVI export of PAE compares to Sony Vegas. But Sony Vegas has more settings and more variability in the export.

... Forgot to mention in the last posting that Sony Vegas is free for 30 days. You can use it to create AVIs for this period of time without any annoying things like watermarks being displayed on the encoded file.

Select file..VCD.. hit ADVANCED.. WINAV will default to 2 discs for you (usually greyed out)
Try splitting to 700MB. Make sure you select QUALITY for preference.
*If want more control over bitrate for audio/video then convert to MPEG1... lot more options there.
