tv and monitor incompability

Can anyone tell me how i can play on the tv movies i play on the monitor.
It used to work at least with AVI files, but after i downloaded some codes (all in one) i cant make it play again. I did uninstal but didnt solve the problem. I guess there is some incopability but i cant get wich code it is.
I ve been trying to fix this for 2 days and i am stuck now

I have a TV conected to my computer and I used to watch movies (AVI) there. I Downloaded a pack of codes (K-lite all in one) to try to play other types of files. After i did it, the tv shows the stuff of the monitor, but the movie is a black window. I tried to remove the pack, but the problem continues. So i wonder if anyone knows wich code is uncompatible that i should find and delete it. I thought about mpg-4, or MPG-2... But i keep instaling and unistaling and seams that nothing makes the movie to work again on the tv. Am I clear now?? TKS A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
