Recently upgraded a client from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro SP2.
Now, AVI files that use the Indeo 5 codec will not play from a Network Drive.
These AVI files will play from a Local Drive.
Something on the ligos website said Microsoft had done something to break streaming video using the Indeo Codec that may be what I'm running into, something they did in Windows XP SP2. I'm using Windows Media Play 9.
If I want to continue to use Windows Media Player 9 (or 10), how can I get around this problem?
I saw an Indeo 5.11 download, but the comments looked like users were running into problems installing it on XP. I see that ligos has an Indeo package for sale for $14.95. Would this package solve my problem? Should the Indeo 5.11 download solve my problem?
Is there some sort of option in Windows Media Explorer where I can turn off streaming support for the Indeo codecs? Someother trick?
Help!!
Thanks,
Anthony

Well, I think the Indeo 5.11 won't solve the problem.
I've seen an 'Indeo XP' or 'Ligos XP' package for sale on ligos.com but I'm not sure whether it will be a solution or not. If you're planning to buy that, ask for info from them before buying.
Another thing: the Intel Indeo version 5.2 is included in K-Lite Codec Pack (Full version) - see download page (features). So you can try a CUSTOM INSTALL of K-Lite CP, install only the Indeo codecs. But again: I'm not sure...
The best thing would be using another player for this streaming video. I'm afraid I can't help more - never faced this problem.
