Problem playing all media ( Audio & visual)

Please can anyone help, I've run out off ideas.

I have a major problem with all my media players. Those being Winamp, RealOne, QuickTime and Windows Media Player.

When I play either an audio track (MP3) or a video track (.WMV), in any of these applications the following happens.

At first the file plays ok. Then, when I press the pause button and then unpause the file it doesn't continue playing correctly. What has happened is that it's speeded up. No matter what I do after that I can't make the track revert back to the correct speed.

This happens in all the above mentioned applications.

I've tried playing the MP3 files in itunes and it seems to work correctly. But unfortunately it can't cope with .WMV files.

Please can anyone shed any light on this problem.

Hello,
I'm having the very same problem just about. My Media Players: Windows MP 10, Real Time, Quick Time, etc. won't play any DVD movies or Music CD's. I've been to Windows & downloaded all kinds of stuff, but nothing has changed. I get errors about Decoders, Codecs, MPEG4. I have only MPEG2's on my computer and i have no clue what else to do, i even downloaded Registry Fix, but still nothing. Tried deleting Windows Media Player 10 and re-downloading it, still nothing. I can't even figure out yet how to put a post on here, so if you can tell me how to put a post on here, i would GREATLY APPRECIATE at least that much. I wish i could solve our problems, but haven't yet.
THANKS,

Hmm......maybe your com is just lagging allot, how much ram and disk space do you have? Maybe you could try uninstalling and reinstalling your media players. Or it could be that the media files are corrupted??

No, I don't think the spec of my machine is the problem.
My spec is

AMP Athlon 2100+
1Gig RAM
80gig HD of which 20gig is free.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing all the media software but the same problem still happens.
The files themselves I know are ok because they play ok on my machine at work.

Please note that I don't get any error messages or anything warning me that there may be a problem playing these files. The PC happely plays the files from the start as long as I don't pause/unpause them. Its only after unpausing them that the playback speedsup. No error messages or anything unusual appears on screen.

My thoughts on this problem are that there's a conflict of codecs some were on my machine. But I don't know were to start looking into this.

Any help would be appreciated
