Nero Wave Editor and Lame encoder (codec)

Recently I purchased a Sony DVD burner for my PC. This had Nero 6.1.4 packaged with it, and upon installing I also had access to their "Wave editor" application. This was fine, except the mp3pro codec supplied was only a 'trial' version (20 uses and no more). I am currently looking for a codec to replace this with and was advised that the LAME codec was the best one to use. I have looked in the folder where their codecs are stored and noticed that lame_enc.dll (most recent stable version) was there, but was not available for use in their configuration box or in their save file box.

The question is how do I get the codec to be realized by the editor (Nero Wave Editor)?

I want to install this codec, but make any changes to the system as necessary, in order to make the codec be picked up, to their config, and to 'file > save as' dialog.
