Hi there,
Just wanting some help with regards to my pagefile.
It is currently 1.8GB in size....and to be honest, if its not necessary I would rather just delete it and get the 1.8 GB back....
However I know it is to do with file swapping/RAM and virtual memory so i am hesitant until someone who knows what they are talking about assists me.
I know that there are options in my computer where you can limit the sizes of the page file - someone told me it can be a size and a half of your current RAM...(That would still make mine 1.5 GB as I have a gig of RAM).
Theres also an option to turn it off as well....I havnt tried deleting it yet, but I have a funny feeling if it is to do with virtual memory you wont be able to do it whilst the OS is running?
Any help appreciated - its just 1.8GB of space that is bugging me.
Steve

Allright, first off, you probably shouldn't need very much page file if you have 512MB of RAM. Currently, i have 256, and my PF totals about 384, even though for my machine probably 150 is the most i would need. So yeah, i would definently change it to about 300, depending on how much VM is being used.

That's not the right info. I have 768MB RAM and use the custom Pagefile of 1152 to 2304, System currently uses ~384 to 768. Due to beafy programs (Video editing, Sound editing) I keep the expanded pagefile. What I would do is invest in a partition program and create a special pagefile partition and move the page there. Keep the settings at 1152 to 2304. With Internet security software and any video or audio players/editors you'll need the heavy pagefile.
