Virus

Hi I am not really sure if I have virus or somthin else... but wheneva I am connected to net it download some files and after that my homepage automatically changes to www.searchmaid.com .... I tried to reset explorer setting removed almost all the softwares got avg 7 free one but still it does tht.... With antivirus no virus found.. Could anyone help plz and also let me know how to change default homepage Not when we go in internet options and change it from there but when we press use default one as wheneva I try to click on tht the default comes as www.seachmaid.com ..... thanks

Lots of nasties out there... trojans, spyware, hijackers so if don't protect yourself with a good firewall, anti-spam, popup blocker and antivirus.. you are bound to be hit w/something.

Likely infected with dialer/spyware. Go to RUN..MSCONFIGURE
Check if any program is on startup that looks suspicious.

Also, check control panel..Add/Remove programs
see if any program installed itself..if so uninstall it.

Do a thorough scan with Lavasoft Adaware or Webroots Spysweeper that detects spyware. Make sure definitions are up-to-date...also do scan with AV.

And.....once system is clean. Dump I.E. and get a better browser like Mozilla that is not as prone to these nasties wink.gif

If you are using WIndows, go to microsoft.com, and get urself microsoft antispyware beta, its REALLY good.

Another one: HijackThis - a general homepage hijackers detector and remover.

And switch to Firefox if you want to avoid hijackers wink.gif
