Well, im quite new at this stuff, so i need a bit of help from the experts here.
I have been downloading some TV seasons with Utorrent, and have run into
some issues with viewing the episodes after completion.
I keep getting codec errors, even though im quite positive that the files are all .avi.(they say .avi but wont play)
And i have downloaded the XP Codec pack from free-codec.com, and also tried DivX player(recommended by a friend).
I am lost as to how i can ensure i am updating the codecs properly so i can watch this stuff.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thnx.

Noting that you've tried installing the divx codec and/or player, there isn't too much left to do. AVIs from newsgroups and share programs often use odd codecs. You've also tried XP codecpack. There is one other codec pack to try. I use it and there's not too much I can not play. It is referred to as "the grandaddy of all codec packs". the proper name is ACE mega codec pack. It is little over 1 year old, carries more than you'll ever need to encode/decode any file out there. I have a complete list of what I have installed from the package, should you need it. You will need to be selective about what to install as some will not function properly with your system.

Thanks for your reply man...

I was wondering...is installing the codec pack enough?...or do i have to actually run certain parts of it in order to
decode the files properly?

Please use one of the codec identifiers (eg. GSpot, AVIcodec) and you'll know your AVI is really an AVI file and which codec you're missing.
