Want to be able to watch 3 REGION DVDs

Hi I have a DVD reader on my PC, I haven't fiddled much with DVD before, all I want to do is to be able to watch the friggin DVDs that I have imported into Europe from USA.
In the year 2002 I tried to flash the DVD reader on the familys older PC, and the thing didn't work anymore. Worse there wasn't much support back then for my DVD model since it was part of a Compaq barebone package. sad.gif

So now when I recently bought a whole new PC I don't want to risk messing with my DVD flash again.
Do you have any tips on what programs especially free ones not sharewares to use to play DVDs from different regions?
Suggestions on what's needed both for Linux as for Windows XP please!
Which of these 3 programs in you tutorials do you recommend for solving my problem w/o causing much damage to the system:
DVD43(freeware) or AnyDVD or DVD Region-Free ?

Is there any free DVD playing software for Windows XP, I've heard that Linux have included one that can play DVD is that true?

No problemo any more it seems like the familys DVD/DivX-player can play DVDs from different regions without ever complaining about choosing a certain region when time has run out.
