Newbie Help Strange Codec Behavior

For some reason, every time I try to go into my video directory now the screen shows everything there, then flashes black and sends me back to the deskop. I am using Windows XP Professional and the latest version of K-Lite. Can some kind soul tell me what I am doing wrong? I don't want to lose all my work. sad.gif
