I've been scraping the net for any trace of help for some files I've downloaded recently.
Once they downloaded, I attempted to play them in Windows Media Player and Winamp. The players SAID the file was playing, but no video or sound was appearing (The timeline bar didn't move either)
So then I opened up my ISO of Windows Nemesis 4, and installed 6 or 7 different codecs, which did nothing for me. I have no idea what they're called, but I'll list the folder names (Maybe you can decipher what they mean):
- AC3
- DivX
- MJpeg
- MPG2
- SMR
- XviD
- ffd
Then there were some other codecs in the same folder, and I'll list the filenames for them:
- avic100.zip
- freedvd.zip
- gspot221.exe
Trying again, still nothing happened.
After that didn't work, I opened DivX (Which was installed instead of the codec) and tried again. This time I got an error saying the following:
QUOTE
The video file you are opening includes video data that is not recognized by the DivX player.
The file contains the following type of data:
Video Data: FOURCC code: "H264"
The file contains the following type of data:
Video Data: FOURCC code: "H264"
Frustrated, I searched around and found more codecs I should try and install. Apparently Quicktime 7 has the capability to decompress H264 video, but all I get is internal errors when I try.
I DID find one codec, however, which let sound through, but the video is just a bunch of rainbow colored blotches on the screen.
If anyone knows how to properly install this codec, or anything else I should try, please let me know. I didn't download 4.1 gigs for no good reason.
