The key is to use trustworthy software from reputable companies that give you option to remove it if necessary... most of the time windows built-in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS applet will do the job. Once in awhile I will use registry cleaner or cleanup temp files that are left behind.. but that's all.

windows add/remove will not monitor programs while the uninstallation process is running also most programs leave uneeded files or empty folders or leave it,s uninstall information in windows registry
also editing this programs information from windows registry will take alot of time and need advanced user.
- also
windows add-remove will not give you details about the installed programs or report them if you need to make report about them.

My own personal preferred "system" if you like to call it that is to just use Windows Add/Remove, then just manually delete any left-over folders. For any left-over Registry entries I just use the last freeware version of JV16 PowerTools which has an excellent registry cleaning component built in. It will if you also like moniter any program's Uninstall process as well.
You can grab a copy of it from OldVersion.com.

Yes, I use Add/Remove option as well. And have the jv16 PowerTools for registry editing. But I do not waste time deleting the registry entries... I don't care.
The not-removed file associations are disturbing sometimes.
I think the perfect uninstaller can be a program, that reads&logs the INSTALL process and then completely inverts it.
Is there?

Uninstaller 2004:
System Mechanic... not a dedicated program, but great general maintenance suite
that is better then Norton I think... and it does have registry cleaner and uninstaller as well!
Ashampoo Uninstaller:
Cheers

The only other program of that ilk which I've heard anybody say anything good about is the freeware Total Uninstall. It could be a worthwhile program if you're willing to learn how to use it effectively.

i think you have tried Add-Remove Master 4.1 (freeware)
i know it has some bugs and its not so professional to override on some programs.
But i mean Version 5.0 (it's a complete new code for add-remove master)
all bugs in v 4.1 fixed on v 5.0
i hope to release it after 12 days (it's under testing)
