Missing codecs

I've followed the steps on the page on reinstalling codecs in XP. but when I get the list of available codecs to install (step 5), the list is empty.

Update: I've looked at the list of hardware in Sound & Audio Devices (Control Panel) and there are two Audio Codecs listed. One seems to be a standard MS driver (audstub.sys) while the other has all the codecs I would expect to see.

Is this right or should I delete the first one?

Strange... Have you uninstalled anything lately?
