Ok I dont know much about computers as far as the non-gaming aspect and everything.. So all of a sudden one day I try to play Rome: Total War and when I turn it on I hear the start up movie and everything, I hit escape it gets past that and then I hear the music of the main menu. But I can't see anything! It's all black! Its really weird, because when I hit alt-f4 to close it i see it for a second before it closes. And sometimes if i minimize and maximize it back I can see the curser. This also is happening for battlefield 2 and every other game with a startup movie, oddly, World Of Warcraft works fine. Just making an observation but it seems like if the game has a start up movie it wont work, but if it doesnt it starts up fine..hmm? Also i just experiemented with this idea as i was typing this, i started up world of warcraft and played the cinematics and guess what, it was all messed up!(though it still ran with some visual) Is my video messed up or something? I downloaded windows media player 9 or whatever that the game requires me to have and still it does not work. This has been going on without change for a while now and its getting pretty annoying. If anyone has any ideas what the cause of this might be..my video card is a radeon x3000 series i think.

Could there be a program I need to fix this?

Is there a way to tell if my video card is busted?

thanks...btw i didnt know if this was supposed to go on software or hardware sorry if its wrong.
