ive no idea with this stuff
but i downloaded an avi file (but in properties it says the type of file is "Video Clip" - if it makes a difference), when i click play, it runs the movie perfectly but without sound, I tried it in windows media player and powerdvd. In Media Player when its loading, it goes "Loading" > "sendind request for codec" > "error downloading codec".

Also on the playlist section of windows media, when its running, the file is shown as red, which usually means corrupted or whatever, and if u hover the mouse over it it says "An audio codec is needed to play this file..."

so basically before i do something stupid, would this site be able to give moi anything helpful - downloadwise i mean

thanks

Best thing to do is to download GSPOT. This will identify the codecs you need to play the file and where to download them from. Or if you type in AVI Codecs in any serch engine you will find codec packs that will also help you. GSPOT is the best though.
