The right codec for Screen Sharing across the Internet

I own a webcasting company and we are in the process of adding a screen sharing feature to our application. We currently have a Windows Media codec in place that allows us to share the presenters screen and show it as video on the audience's screen, however text does not show up sharp enough. Pictures come out looking beautiful, but not text. (see the attachment I have included with this messageAttached File  screen_shot.jpg (589.32K)
Number of downloads: 119)

Is there a known codec that is used for this type of application that is readily available? I know that Webex and others handle this quite well, but I think they wrote their own codec, and I am trying to avoid the cost of doing that.

The other important thing to note is since the screen share is being sent as video across the web, it need to be low in bandwidth.

Your help and advice on this matter is greatly appreciated.
