Windows XP SP2 Default Sound Problems

Greetings,
I'm having a problem that i'm very frustraited about.
I installed FFDSHOW Codec pack (08-03-2006) for whatever reason..
Nothing went wrong until I uninstalled it because I found out that I didn't really need it.
And also that I 'thought' it was screwing up my DivX player when I was trying to watch a movie.
When I uninstalled it and rebooted, I no longer had Windows sounds. (clicking, bootup music ect..)
However, I could still play music and games with sound.
I did have a problem with Ventrilo (It said I was missing a codec)
but I installed a Windows XP default codec which fixed that problem

I tried various things which i'll list..
1) Installed K-Lite Codec pack
2) Installed K-Lite Mega Codec pack
3) Reinstalled Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer drivers
4) Installed Windows XP default codecs
5) Uninstalled All Codecs
6) Reinstalled Windows XP default codecs

None of these have worked for me.
I don't want to reformat or reinstall Windows XP all over again just because of this..
Please someone help me!

Tim

1) Install the K-Lite Codec Pack
2) Run the Codec Tweak Tool (use shortcut in start menu)
3) It has a feature called "Fix system sound"

Greetings,
Ah.. thank you so much!
That totally fixed it. Ugh, and to think that I went through all that trouble for one little fix...
