Hi, all:
I am having a problem with my system -- almost out of the box. I cannot view my mpg files from my hard drive or from cd. The audio is fine, and I can view them in WMP Clasic and Real, but not in the default. When I run codec detective certain codecs appear to be broken. Sincethis is a new powerful system running XP (Pavilion a1357c, someting must have corrupted the codecs. Intervideo WinDVD installed the codecs. I uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. Can anyone offer any suggestions. This is a basic operation -- at least on the surface
Stumped.

I installed it; however, that did not solve the problem either.

This system is only three weeks old. It was probably the second week before i got around to running the mpgs. It's a mystery since they will play in real player and WMP Classic. Since the HP Media center is the focus area, i would like to use it -- and I would like to have everything up and running as it should -- without doing a Sysyem recovery. My son installed WMP 11 and HP help thought that that was the problem. I rolled it back to version 10 but it made no difference.
How can I set another player as the default player?
Thanks for responding
