ok i have sound with everything else i play videos,music and i could even play the system sounds when i click on them to play but now i have this problem out of no where first the tray volume control dont come up anymore ive unchecked it and rechecked it and still not there and when i go into control panel and go to sounds when i click on a system sound i cant preview it in there but when i go to browse and open the file in media player it plays just fine but it dont play in the preview and i dont have any system sounds playing when i boot etc etc...so i dont know what to do any suggestions on what could be wrong here?

Run the Codec Tweak Tool. It has an option to fix system sound by restoring some registry keys.
Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Twaek Tool
Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Twaek Tool
