Converting videos to AMV (PC & Mac?)

Hey guys,

I recently bought a SH-WY MP3 player in Shanghai which also has some video playing capbabilities. But it only looks like it plays .AMV files.

Any idea what software I would use on both Windows and MacOS X (as I use both) to convert MPEGs or AVIs to the AMV format?

Also, can anyone recommend the optimal compression settings (framerate etc.) for these kind of small players?

Don't know why you want to use a proprietary format... should use a more universal format so will play easily on both platforms i.e. MP3, AVI, MPG etc.
