I am using Windows xp sp2 and i currently have the problem of audio that skips a little about every minute, doesn't matter if i play a movie, mp3 or a wav file.
problem wasn't there from the beginning, but i wouldn't know what system change was the beginning.
i have the Realtek ALC850 7.1channel AC'97 audio codec as an audio chip
and CPU use doesn't seem to be the issue, meaning, no special peaks when it lags.
what can i try to get rid of this lag/skipping?

Have you tried updating to latest realtek AC97 driver?
