TalkingSoft.com Forums: Burning an *.MKV video file - TalkingSoft.com Forums

I downloaded an *.MKV HBO video file that I had intended to burn to either a CD or DVD and then watch on my DVD Player but, although I can convert the *.MKV to an *.avi that's acceptable with my computer, even Nero's ShowTime, I can't get DivX Player, Nero 7 Ultra Edition, or POWERISO to convert and/or burn the *.MKV (*.avi) file to a CD-RW blank or a DVD-R or +R DVD blank. Does anyone know why the *.MKV converted files to *.avi (supposedely) that will now play on my computer via Nero ShowTime, even Media Player now but won't burn, and if I can get Nero to burn i.e. Nero will go through the process and even indicate the burn is done but the burn won't play on my DVD Player.)

Anyone: What must I do to or with an *.MKV file, conversion or otherwise, so I can burn to a DVD or CD blank and then play it on my DVD Player?
