Hi there,
just a few weeks ago I deleted all my codecs and reinstalled following the instructions in this "Codec/guide"thread.
Now I got maself a new digital camcorder,only problem the recorded files wont play on my pc no matter which player I use.The files are asf files and therefore should play in windows media player,but they dont.I also tried vlc,real player,media player classic,zoom player,divx,(they play in vlc but only very badly)
I downloaded some random asf file from the net and it plays normally.
When I try to convert these files almost every free available converter(for example stoik) brakes down.
I used g spot and it says they are asf files but cant give information to the codecs.
I also tried tried playing them on a friends pc with win xp,I only have win 98se,but no matter what player he used he couldnt play the files correctly,sometimes they dont run fluently,sometimes theres no sound or the picture is otherwise distorted.
When I try to play them with windows media player it says the audio codec identified by the format tag 2 is required to play this file,I searched the net but couldnt find this codec.
I uploaded a file to rapidshare its a little big like 35 mb,but I dont have the time now to record a new,smaller one heres the link:

The video plays fine using MPC using FFDshow and ACM wrapper.
Both codecs freely downloadable or bundled with K-Lite codec pack.

MPC is media player classic right?But what means FFDshow and ACM wrapper?

thanks I downloaded the ffdshow already but when I try to install it its says"error opening file for writing...c, program files,k lite codec pack,ffdshow,ffdshow.ax"

And about the acm wrapper,as far as I read I first have to know which codec I need,because the wrapper isnt an actual codec more like a filter,so which codec is it?Or can I just download a random acm wrapper?
